When making tea, add 1/4 teaspoon baking soda to the water! A pinch of baking soda reduces the acidity and smooths out the flavor.
Here is how I make my sweet tea:
1) In a large saucepan, boil 5 cups water.
2) Stir in 1/4 teaspoon baking soda. Add 8 regular tea bags or 3 family tea bags.
3) Remove from heat. Cover. Let steep for about 15 minutes.
4) Discard tea bags. Stir in 1 1/2 cups sugar. Add 5 more cups water.
5) Pour into 1/2 gal container and refrigerate until chilled.
6) Enjoy!
